Taking A Look At The Prevalence Of Car Accidents

As any law firm in the United States knows, personal injury cases in this country are hugely common and, in many cases, cannot be avoided. A typical law firm is likely to see cases that range from nursing home neglect to injuries that resulted from a very preventable car accident. No matter what, it’s the job of the personal injury lawyer at the law firm in question to make sure that everything is as it should be and that the victim gets the compensation that they so very much deserve. Fortunately, the vast majority of all personal injury cases are able to be settled with relative ease, as only around four percent (five percent at the very most) of them actually end up going to trial here in the United States, with the vast majority never seen in a courtroom or before a judge and jury.

Car accidents are so common here in the United States – as many as six million of them in just one year – that they make up more than half of all personal injury cases (fifty two percent of them, to be more exact). There are many causes of car accidents here in the United States, and some of them, like those that are caused because of inclement and dangerous weather, are not particularly preventable. Others, however, are, with speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence three of the top causes for car accidents and other such motor vehicle accidents all throughout this country.

As any law firm that handles DUIs in the United States can certainly attest to, the prevalence of drunk driving or otherwise driving under the influence is one that is far too high all throughout this country. For instance, as many as three hundred thousand people will drive will drunk over the course of just one single day. Unfortunately, only around four thousand of these people are actually stopped and charged with a DUI, leaving the rest on the road where they will continue to pose a threat not only to themselves but who all that are around them as well.

Drunk driving is so dangerous that very nearly thirty people die as a result of it every single day. And for every single two minute time segment that passes, there is at least one person who has become injured as a direct result of drunk driving. In addition to this, many people have lost their lives because of otherwise driving under the influence, which includes prescription medications as well as illegal substances of various natures. Much of this is due to the fact that people who drive while intoxicated under the influence of a substance that is not alcohol cause up to as many as sixteen percent of all of the car accidents that are seen in the United States alone.

But though the car accident attorney is a very skilled one and one that sees a large number and variety of clients, the typical law firm will deal with a wider variety of personal injury cases than just car accident cases. Unfortunately, many a personal injury claim is due to nursing home neglect. This type of case can typically be handled by a law firm that specializes in nursing home neglect law or even just has a nursing home neglect lawyer alone.

Unfortunately, nursing home neglect is anything but uncommon here in the United States. In this country alone, it’s estimated that at least forty percent of patients in nursing homes have experienced some level of abuse. And even more – up to ninety percent – have experienced in some way, even if they themselves were not victim to it. Unfortunately, it is currently thought that cases of nursing home abuse are far under reported and that there are actually far more cases of nursing home abuse and neglect than we actually see. This can be attributed to the fact that many people in nursing homes are simply no longer capable of reporting the abuse that they experience.

From the car accident case to the nursing home abuse case, the typical law firm will see a wide variety of personal injury cases.
